Oregonian Treats

To say this has been a wonderfully surprising week would be an understatement. Not only did I get Canadian Treats, but one of my coworkers from our Portland office came to town and brought me these delicious treats that I can’t get here. In case you can’t tell what’s pictured, she brought:

Epic Brewing – Smoked & Oaked Belgian Ale

Brasserie d’Achouffe – N’Ice Chouffe

Fort Georg Brewing – Fresh IPA

Logsdon Farm Brewery – Oak Aged Bretta

In a discussion during her last visit, she mentioned that she’d been to Belgium and was able to taste one of the highest rated beers in the world – Brouwerij Westvleteren’s Westvleteren 12. Why is it so highly rated? Partly because of its rarity. It’s produced by Trappist monks who brew in small quantities and, with one exception, sell it only at the monastery. She claims the N’Ice Chouffe comes close to the taste of the Westvleteren 12. The N’Ice Chouffe (I rated it 4.25 of 5 on Untappd) is dubbed a Winter Warmer (brewed with thyme and curaçao peel) while the Westvleteren 12 is a Belgian Quad, so I’m very curious how the Westvleteren 12 tastes. One day…

Have something to add?
