It’s Monday and that means it’s time to start your week off with some new music. This week we look at a band of indie rockers from Down Under – The Jezabels – and their newest album, Synthia. With tracks that are equal parts atmospheric and moody as well as straight-forward and rocking, The Jezabels mix themes of female empowerment, loss, and sexuality to name a few. Lead singer, Hayley Mary is reminiscent of a younger, Aussie version of Chrissie Hynde in both her appearance and vocals. There’s also another band’s musical influence at work on this album, but I’ve been unable to put my finger on it. If one of you can place it, feel free to share because this will eat at me. Thanks.
