Hop Along, Wye Oak, and The Aces
Getting back in the groove of things is easier with three new albums by Hop Along, Wye Oak, and The Aces. Forget that these albums are labelled as Alternative/Indie. The differences between them is distinctive to say the very least.
Hop Along: Bark Your Head Off, Dog
Hop Along dropped Bark Your Head Off, Dog last Friday and it might be the catchiest of all albums released this past week. With their pixie-like vocals (not to be confused with Pixies-like vocals), they joyfully bound through this nine-track offering. There’s a very Belly quality on this album that I can’t quite shake.

Plaintive and powerful sums up Wye Oak‘s The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs. Savvy fans may recognize this band from their inclusion in such shows as:The Walking Dead, Being Human, One Tree Hill, and Longmire.

The Aces: When My Heart Felt Volcanic
Dichotomy sums up The Aces’ latest release, When My Heart Felt Volcanic. This album is equal parts The Griswolds and Wilson Phillips. There’s jangly guitars combined with heavily chorused guitars.
